How to get to the Dordogne

Wondering how to plan your trip to Dordogne, SW France? Read this!

The Dordogne is situated inland, approximately two-thirds of the way down France, in the South West region, which is known for its rural charm. To fully explore this beautiful area, having a car is essential as public transport options are limited outside of cities.

Mialet is located in the North Dordogne close to the border with the Haute Vienne.

If you are travelling southbound on the N21, take the right turn to Mialet shortly after leaving Firbeix. In case you miss this turn, continue until La Coquille, where you will only lose an additional 5 minutes.  Once you reach the centre of Mialet with the shops, it will take you just another 2 minutes by car on the Nontron road. Look out for an Epicerie followed by a small chateau on your right. As you pass the bend in the road, you will see a stone-built house opposite, with green shutters and surrounded by a white fence, then you have reached your destination.

If you are travelling northbound on the N21, turn left at the traffic lights at La Coquille. This will take you directly to Mialet. Follow the same directions mentioned above.

Please note that Mialet is also spelled locally as Miallet in Occitan. There is another village called Mialet in the Gard department, located about 6 hours southeast of us. So, ensure that you are heading towards Mialet, Dordogne.
